Children's Book Illustration

50 + color illustrations for "Jameela's Big Adventure" published November 2009.
This is my first published work. It is a good example of working on a deadline, as the author needed 50 drawings in a month.
It was also an excellent learning experience. I definitely under-estimated how much time it takes to do it in color, especially since the author only needed black and white. It really drove home how much of the time is used on simply creating a decent composition, but I really wanted to make a good impression, and then the author could print it in color down the line.
Needless to say, this made for some late nights and Dr. Pepper saturated kidneys.
In some some ways this was a failure, as the story really would have been served well with a simpler style. I learned it's important to keep things in perspective, and to communicate more with my employer. Knowing how the images would be incorporated with the text would have been helpful for a better flowing page. I think it was a learning for the both of us.

Graphic Design

Here is a Poster example I did in my Photoshop Class (I cheated a little- used illustrator a bit, too!) I already knew my was around the program, but it was nice to be able to learn some new techniques without worrying about learning the interface.
I like how it turned out, even though I've never been great at typography. I like the clean lines with a bit of grit, as well as the color integration.

Logo-

This is the logo I did for the cover band I was in- Wrestle with Jimmy. I did it in Illustrator for scalability . I think the letters are self-explanatory. The circle represents the ring of condensation left on your napkin after your drink has sat on it.

This one is from a calendar I made for my step-dad. It's a Christmas tradition to gift my step-father with rocks, so this year I thought he needed to be reminded year-round. I did composite images of rocks in various "poses" (think swimsuit calendar), and thought I should mix it up.

Animation Demo

All animations are key-framed and I made the audo in MixCraft. The vocal is from the movie "BeetleJuice". This is a temporary reel composed of test renders and student work. I've put this up to give a general Idea of what I can do. I am working on a "real" reel to replace this one in the future. Thank you.
